Chemo Round 2
Hi All,
Robin finished her second round of chemo this past Friday and is doing really well. Now that she has experienced one round it seems a little less stressful knowing what she is getting into. Her sessions are usually about 4 hours long. Denny sat with her the first half and her sister, Nancy, sat with her for the second half. Then we all went back to the house and had lunch together.
Usually the day of the treatment goes very well. They put hydrating IV's in and steroids, so she has extra energy. She felt a little ill on Sunday morning, but was tough as ever and bounced back by mid day. After the last round she experienced pain in her legs, but didn't get nauseous which was awesome and we are hoping this round is similar. She is also prepared to get ahead of the pain and now knows how to manage it, so hopefully that will make things easier and keep her comfortable.
Her friend, Donna, visited last week which was super fun. They went shopping for scarves in south county and had lunch with Kathy Bunney. Donna also accompanied her to her hair dresser while she got a pixie cut that looked great. At the end of that weekend, she went up to Connie's house in Redondo Beach to celebrate Matthew (Connie's son) going off to USC.
Hoag offers a really great class called "Look Good, Feel Better" that Robin attended for make up tips and head wear demos. She had a great time, learned a lot, and came home with a ton of great products! She might be losing her hair, but looks great and is accessorizing more than ever :) Hoag also offers yoga and some other interesting classes that she is looking into attending.
Denny has been super helpful and Sherman has also been keeping a close watch on Robin to make sure she is safe and comfortable. Usually this involves sleeping on her pillow or never leaving her side during the day!
Robin is also looking forward to heading up to Alamo at the end of this week for the annual couples Bunco weekend where she gets to see a ton of her favorite people!
Thank you as always for all of your kind words and encouragement for Robin. We appreciate it and hope everyone is doing well!
Lauren
