She's Done!!!

Image
Hi All, Sorry for the delayed update of Robin. The holidays got a little crazy! After enjoying a great Christmas with the family, Robin finished her final chemo treatment on December 28th! We are so grateful for all of the support and kind words from all of our friends and family. Since the final chemo, the test results have been very good which we are all excited about, but of course Robin is staying on top of things and still has a lot of follow ups with the doctor. She has been reintroducing a lot of foods back into her system, but still has to be careful. We thought it would be easiest to fill this blog with photos from what she has been up to since the last update, so here it goes! Not long after she was finished with radiation, we headed up to Tahoe to celebrate Thanksgiving in our favorite place. My friends cooked and brought over all the food and Robin got to relax and enjoy! We spent a day in Virginia City with Kerry and Joey and had a blast at all the vintage store...

Radiation Update

Image
Hi All! Sorry that it has been so long since the last update. Robin is almost done with radiation and has been doing really well. She only has six sessions left and if she is able to stay on track with the schedule she should be done with her last chemo session before the end of the year. Currently Robin goes to radiation 5 days a week, but it is a short process that only takes a few minutes. She has a very restricted diet, but is making it work and staying social! Both my parents are staying busy with guests and fun social events. Carol and Gary Larson visited from the bay are about a month ago, Donna and Mark Antonioli were just here this past weekend, and our friend Kyle just flew back to Arizona this afternoon. Denny and Robin attended an awesome birthday party for Bill Hockinson last week and Robin came to a bridal shower for my friend Sarah a couple of weekends ago as well. Robin has been able to keep volunteering at the Newport Beach Public Library and is keeping ...

Chemo Round 2

Hi All,  Robin finished her second round of chemo this past Friday and is doing really well. Now that she has experienced one round it seems a little less stressful knowing what she is getting into. Her sessions are usually about 4 hours long. Denny sat with her the first half and her sister, Nancy, sat with her for the second half. Then we all went back to the house and had lunch together.  Usually the day of the treatment goes very well. They put hydrating IV's in and steroids, so she has extra energy. She felt a little ill on Sunday morning, but was tough as ever and bounced back by mid day. After the last round she experienced pain in her legs, but didn't get nauseous which was awesome and we are hoping this round is similar. She is also prepared to get ahead of the pain and now knows how to manage it, so hopefully that will make things easier and keep her comfortable.  Her friend, Donna, visited last week which was super fun. They went shopping for scarves in sout...

Week 1

Image
Hi All,  It has been one week since Robin's first treatment and she is doing great! Her treatment on Friday went smoothly. Denny, Scott, and I hung out with her during the treatment. She did get a lot of pain in her joints and legs on day 4 and 5, but had no nausea which is pretty awesome. At this point the pain has subsided quite a bit and she is feeling like her usual self. Her sisters and friends have come by the house and she was able to go to the Yourman's house to enjoy time with her bridge ladies on Wednesday.  Nancy gave her her new favorite cook book. Robin is not letting her kitchen remodel go to waste and has already made a recipe from it. She recommends checking it out the book because of the info and the great recipes!  All in all it's been a pretty good week and we are hoping it stays that way :) Thanks,  Lauren And of course Sherman has not left her side New cook book from Melissa

Chemo Round 1

Hi All,  As most of you know Robin was recently diagnosed with uterine cancer and is beginning treatment today with her first round of chemo. A friend suggested this blog as an easy way to send updates to her friends and family. I don't think any of us can truly express how grateful we have been for all of the support over the last month. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful people in our lives!  Since we are not sure how Robin will feel after round one, this blog seemed like an easy way to keep everyone updated without her having to do too much texting or talking. Phone calls and texts are always welcome, but since none of us know how this really goes, we weren't sure if she might b e too tired or overwhelmed to get back to everyone.  To start off round one: As usual, Robin has a positive attitude and is tough as ever. We just got back from a trip to Tahoe which was a rejuvenating vacation as always. Her great friends Donna and Mark made it up to Tahoe to visi...
